• Your warranty will be void after you unlock the bootloader.

Requirements:

• Install the Xiaomi REDMI Note 5 USB driver/REDMI Note 5 USB driver on the PC.
• Enable USB debugging, OEM unlocks, and add your account to MI unlocked status.

How do you enable USB debugging and OEM unlock?

The following are the simple steps to enable USB debugging, enable OEM unlocking, and add an account in MI unlock status, which simplifies the process of unlocking the bootloader.
Open Settings ---> about phone ----> Click continuously to build number 7-8 times. When you tap it, developer options are enabled on the phone.

Back to the settings ----> additional settings ----> Developer Options ---> using the USB debugging and OEM unlock options.

Unlock The Bootloader from Xiaomi REDMI Note 5/Note 5 Pro

The entire Entsperrvorgang is divided into two steps. First, you must grant the Xiaomi the share permission by requesting it. After granting the release, MI Flash unlock tool is used to unlock the bootloader.

Request for sharing permission
You must grant the release permission from the Xiaomi. For this will go on the official Xiaomi unlocking site.

Step 1: Open your favorite browser and go to http://en.miui.com/unlock/ & press the Unlock button to continue.

Step 2: Now it will redirect you to the MI account login page. Log in to your MI account. Use the same account as in the REDMI Note 5 Pro. If you do not have an MI account, create a new MI account.

Step 3: After registration, you must fill in the information with the correct reason for unlocking the bootloader.

• Enter your full name.
• Select the country of the mobile phone number.
• Enter your mobile phone number under which you will receive the message after you have given permission.
• In the next column, you must specify a reason to unlock the bootloader. You can use any reason like mobile is stuck at MI logo, a phone does not boot up, the phone is restarted again and so on.
• Enter the security code.
• Tick the disclaimer.
• Finally, select Apply Now.

Step 4: Now you need to verify the mobile phone number by placing the received OTP code on your mobile phone number. Enter the OTP in the box and click Next.

Step 5: You will see a message that  "Request has been submitted successfully, please have patience review ".

All you have to do is wait until you get permission from Xiaomi. Once you have received the release authorization, you will be notified by SMS on the mobile phone. So keep an eye on your cell phone.

It may take more than 5 to 10 days for the release permission to be granted. If you still have not received permission, you can try again for another reason.

In my case, the next day I got the permit.

Step 6: After you have granted permission, you must add your MI account in the MI share status, which is available in the developer options.

Here's the hard part to get around  "After 72 hours of trying to unlock the device ".

Download and install China VPN on your phone. After installation, open the app & connect the VPN to any server.

Step 7: Now go to Settings > Additional settings > Developer Options > Mi Unlock Status. Tap add account and your account will be added.

Now you can go directly to unlock the bootloader.

Unlock the bootloader with the MI Flash unlock tool

Finally, it is time to unlock the REDMI Note 5/Pro bootloader. To unlock the bootloader we use the MI Flash unlock tool. It is the tool developed by Xiaomi for this purpose only.

Step 1: Download mi Flash unlocks tool and installs it on your Windows PC.

Step 2: Open the application. First, you will see the disclaimer. Click ' Agree ' to accept the disclaimer.

Step 3: Now you need to sign in with the account you used to grant the unlock permission.

Step 4: It will search for the permissions and then you will need to connect your device via USB cable to the PC in Fastboot mode.

Press and hold the Power + volume at the same time to boot into Fastboot mode.

Step 5: Finally, press the Unlock button on the MI Flash Unlock tool button to start the Entsperrvorgang of the bootloader.

When you press the Unlock button, the alert appears:  "Unlock the phone deletes all phone data, regardless of whether the phone is unlocked? ".

Just press ' unlock ' to start the process.

Step 6: Unlocking the bootloader takes a few seconds. They will end with the message unlocked successfully.

Sometimes the unlock process will hang at 99% and will give a message like  "After xx hours trying to unlock the device " or "The binding time is too short, less than 72 hours ". If you are confronted with this type of error, you must wait until the countdown.
